The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources released the latest data on activity in the Haynesville Shale in the northern part of the state. There are now 1,079 total Haynesville Shale wells in various stages of permitting, drilling, completion or operation.

The breakdown as of March 30, 2010, is:

Permitted Well Waiting on Completion – 358 wells

Producing Well – 380 wells

Permitted Well - Drilling in Progress – 112 wells

Permitted Well - Not Drilling – 229 wells
